Burmester & Vogel Announces Acquisition of Laysoft System
Burmester & Vogel has acquired Laysoft (also known as Laytime2000), a Windows-based laytime calculation software, for an undisclosed sum. The software has maintained a user base of over 200 companies in the dry bulk sector for more than two decades, particularly among grain and mining operations.
Key Details
The acquisition enables Laysoft users to transition smoothly to B&V’s cloud-based Demurrage AI Copilot platform. The system automatically converts calculations from Laysoft while retaining historical demurrage data and making port intelligence accessible through B&V’s analytics tools.
Kingston Duffie, Laysoft’s founder, stated: “I am happy that Laysoft had such a long and productive life. I built it more than 20 years ago as a favor for friends at FedNav.”
Evangelos Efstathiou, B&V’s CEO, noted: “The acquisition of a successful, niche application such as Laysoft further consolidates B&V’s position serving several hundred companies in the maritime industry.”
